In the area east of the Huangpu River, known as Pudong, stands SK Group Tower, the tenth tallest building in Shanghai. Rising to a height of 275 metres, it dominates the financial and commercial district, close to the Shanghai World Expo Center, known for its futuristic pavilions, and Pudong International Airport, one of China’s main aviation hubs.
Entirely dedicated to office use, the tower rises distinctly above the surrounding low-rise buildings, becoming a new landmark on the urban skyline and giving the area a renewed identity.
For the cladding of the corridors across all 59 floors, Hong Kong-based design studio RAD, responsible for the project, selected Timeless Marble Slimtech by Lea Ceramiche. In the Statuario White version, the impressive 3 x 1 m slabs define the surfaces with a contemporary aesthetic. Subtle veining across the pure white background enhances brightness and gives an airy quality to the circulation spaces, transforming simple connecting corridors into distinctive environments in their own right.
This refined aesthetic is combined with the durability and functionality typical of ceramic materials, which are non-absorbent and resistant to stains and wear. To ensure high standards of hygiene, Lea Ceramiche’s Timeless Marble slabs also feature Protect®, antibacterial protection that helps counter the proliferation of bacteria on the surface 24 hours a day, even in the absence of light.
